I work for IBM Sales and Delivery as Engagement Manager. I have been practicing for more than one year. A friend of mine encouraged me to join her and find activities since we are not getting any younger and we have a sedentary lifestyle. Working on an 8-5 desk job, client meetings, stress eating and worse gaining weight (225 lbs), my friend encouraged me to go with her and practice yoga. As a first timer, I was hesitant and intimidated because of the poses and thought yoga was not for me. Seeing the people in the front area, I was amazed with their asana practice and asked myself, “How can I do this?” It turned out that I love the practice.

My day is not complete without practicing yoga- from Hot, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Yin to name a few. I never thought that I would meet new friends who share the same interests as mine and who would become my second family. Teachers are very patient enough to guide me before and after class. I also started to be more mindful with the things I do - from food choices and actions off the mat. On a physical note, it’s music to my ears when I hear, “Mark, ang laki ng pinayat mo”. Yes, I shed more than 30 lbs by practicing yoga.

I am very thankful to Yoga+ for being my second home. With all the things that has happened and are happening to me I always keep in mind what my yoga teachers tell me, “Always go back to where you started. Keep your feet on the ground.”
